Thousands protest Peres' visit to Argentina
Wed, 18 Nov 2009 11:58:24 GMT
The Israeli president's trip to Argentina has sparked angry protests in the capital Buenos Aires to condemn the regime's killing of measures to tighten the noose on Palestinians.
Thousands gather in the demonstration carrying signs calling for destruction of 'Zionist-fascist Israel.'
They gathered in the square opposite Argentina's congress in Buenos Aires in preparation for a protest march against the occupying regimes.
Protestors carried signs displaying dead children and calling Peres a "murderer", and handed out pamphlets condemning Israel and its leaders.
The protestors also carried pictures of Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, and the Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The signs read "Get out of Argentina, murderer Shimon Peres", while others said "Death to Zionist-fascist Israel, officer of American imperialism in the Middle East, murderers of the Palestinian people!"
Israel launched a devastating attack on the Gaza Strip at the turn of the year, which left at least 1,400 Palestinian killed, most of them civilians. It also inflicted $1.6 billion damage on the Gaza economy.
It has also imposed a crippling siege on the strip and virtually cut the costal sliver of land's access to the outside world.
The measures have triggered worldwide condemnation and protest are staged against the occupying regime every now and then in major world cities.
